Assassin's Creed II: Renaissance Cities and Invented Movement

Full journey spoilers: this route names the fictional conspiracy, the late-game Vatican setting, and the final infiltration. It follows five playable spaces in Assassin's Creed II beside documented urban-heritage records. It is not a roof-to-roof route, access map, or source for Renaissance events.

Timeline & locations

1 of 5 selected
  1. Ubisoft places Ezio in Renaissance Italy, including Florence. The game makes Florence a playable setting; UNESCO describes the real historic centre as a protected urban fabric shaped across centuries. Neither source turns a mission path, roof, courtyard, or interior into a real visitor route.

    Coordinates
    Location intentionally unpinned
    Visitability
    Not currently visitable

Location precision: The game and heritage record identify Florence, but they do not establish a safe, durable visitor coordinate for a game mission or traversal path.

Visitor guidance: Use only lawful public access and current site rules. Do not climb, enter roofs or courtyards, or seek private buildings because play makes them appear reachable.

The named game memory is a primary-work locator, not evidence that its fictional actions occurred in Florence.

      Locator:

      Source note:
This heritage record does not validate a game district or route.
  2. The base game uses Monteriggioni as a hub associated with the fictional Villa Auditore. The municipality dates the castle's construction to 1214-1219 and records twentieth-century tower reconstruction. The settlement is real; the family headquarters and its game functions are not.

    Coordinates
    Location intentionally unpinned
    Visitability
    Not currently visitable

Location precision: No coordinate is supplied because a game hub does not identify a real building, and the route does not validate a precise entrance or game-scale layout.

Visitor guidance: Treat the walled settlement as a living, managed place. Use official public routes only and check current conditions before any visit.

The current skyline is not an untouched fifteenth-century game asset.

      Source note:
It does not identify a real Villa Auditore.
  3. A Tuscany stage in the game compresses movement and conflict around San Gimignano. UNESCO identifies the real town as a distinct historic centre south of Florence, with its own protected urban fabric. Designed travel distance and combat space are not evidence for a real path or event.

    Coordinates
    Location intentionally unpinned
    Visitability
    Not currently visitable

Location precision: The route names the town as context but leaves it unpinned because no game objective, roof, or combat location has a safe visitor precision.

Visitor guidance: Respect residents, conservation barriers, and controlled monument access. Do not use a fictional objective as on-site guidance.

Keep the historical Pazzi conflict separate from the game's invented orders, targets, dialogue, and spatial sequence.

  4. Ubisoft's retrospective describes both a fictional narrative and designed climbing/parkour across Renaissance settings. Venice's heritage record instead describes a living city and lagoon with conservation and tourism pressures. The game’s crossings and climbable architecture are gameplay design, not a street or canal itinerary.

    Coordinates
    Location intentionally unpinned
    Visitability
    Not currently visitable

Location precision: Venice is identified at city level, but neither source supports a precise game-route pin, a canal crossing, or a climbable monument.

Visitor guidance: Use lawful streets, bridges, and authorised transport only. Respect residents, monuments, and current local conditions; do not climb façades or enter restricted water spaces.

The city must not be reduced to a parkour backdrop.

  5. The named base-game finale is a fictional infiltration and confrontation. Vatican Museums guidance describes a present public-visitor boundary, including rules for the Sistine Chapel; it does not validate any game route, wall, roof, interior, or secret passage.

    Coordinates
    Location intentionally unpinned
    Visitability
    Not currently visitable

Location precision: No coordinate is supplied because the finale's mission geography is fictional and because a real cultural site should not be represented through restricted or game-derived access paths.

Visitor guidance: Visit only through current official entry, ticketing, security, dress, photography, and staff rules. Do not seek a game route or restricted entrance.

Full spoilers apply. The game’s actions and secret-history narrative are not documented Vatican history.
