José Rizal, the Philippine national hero, was born in Calamba, exiled to Dapitan, imprisoned in Fort Santiago and shot at Bagumbayan, now Rizal Park in Manila, on 30 December 1896.
This route follows his life and death through six places: the reconstructed family house in Calamba, the shrine on his Dapitan estate, Fort Santiago in Intramuros, the execution ground at Luneta, his secret first grave at Paco Park and the monument that now holds his remains.
Blade Runner's 2019 Los Angeles was filmed at the Bradbury Building, the Ennis House, Union Station, the 2nd Street Tunnel and a Warner Bros. backlot in Burbank. Ridley Scott's 1982 film follows Rick Deckard as he hunts four replicants through a rainswept, neon-lit city.
This route follows the story from the police station to the final chase across a rooftop, and shows which real downtown and Los Feliz landmarks stood in for the future. Most sets were dressed heavily for the camera, so expect the buildings, not the neon.
inFAMOUS 2 builds New Marais from real New Orleans: the French Quarter, Bayou St. John, Oak Alley, Fort Jackson and the Lower Ninth Ward. Cole MacGrath flees ruined Empire City to a Louisiana city ruled by the demagogue Joseph Bertrand and needs a scientist, a device and power cores to beat the Beast.
New Marais is Sucker Punch's New Orleans: a fictional city assembled from the French Quarter, above-ground cemeteries, plantation houses, a Civil War fort, the bayous and the flooded districts left by a hurricane. This route follows Cole's story through seven of those stand-ins, from the swamp where he lands to the cathedral tower where the game ends.
El Dorado is Lake Guatavita, 57 km northeast of Bogotá, where legend sets the gilded zipa's raft, with stops at Funza, Sogamoso and the Gold Museum. The ritual was written down generations after the conquest; the gold and the draining are history.
The route follows both threads, and each stop says which is which: Quesada's march in 1537, the lake itself, the drainage, a rival lake, the cave where a raft turned up in 1969 and the Bogotá museum that keeps it.
