Tchaikovsky: From Votkinsk to Saint Petersburg

Tchaikovsky's life runs from his birthplace in Votkinsk through the School of Jurisprudence, the Saint Petersburg and Moscow conservatories, the Mariinsky Theatre and his house in Klin to his grave in Tikhvin Cemetery. Most of these places can still be visited. The route follows the composer from his birth on 7 May 1840 to his death on 6 November 1893: childhood in Udmurtia, a civil-service training he gave up, music school, two opera premieres and the last symphony. The cause of his death is still debated, and the final stop says so.

Chopin: From Warsaw to Paris

Frédéric Chopin was born in Żelazowa Wola near Warsaw, lived in Warsaw until 1830, wintered on Mallorca, composed in Nohant and died in Paris; his body lies in Père Lachaise, his heart in Warsaw's Holy Cross Church. This route follows the composer's life from his birthplace and the Warsaw home he left in 1830 to Valldemossa, Nohant, his last Paris apartment on Place Vendôme and the two resting places that split him between France and Poland.

Beethoven: From Bonn to Vienna

Beethoven's life runs from Bonn, where he was born in 1770, to Vienna, where he lived from 1792, wrote the Eroica and the Fifth Symphony, and is buried in the Zentralfriedhof. He was born in a small house on Bonngasse and moved to Vienna at 21. There he faced growing deafness, which he wrote about in the Heiligenstadt Testament in 1802, and composed in the Pasqualati House and the Theater an der Wien. This route follows the composer from his Bonn birthplace through the Vienna addresses where his symphonies and Fidelio were written and first heard, to his grave and the 1845 Bonn monument.

Thomas Hardy's Wessex: Dorset to Stonehenge

Thomas Hardy's Wessex is the real Dorset and Wiltshire under invented names: Puddletown becomes Weatherbury, Bere Regis becomes Kingsbere, and Stonehenge keeps its own name in Tess of the d'Urbervilles. The route starts at Hardy's birthplace cottage and his house Max Gate, then follows his novels to the real villages and ancient sites behind them: Puddletown, Maiden Castle, Bere Regis and finally Stonehenge. Hardy himself called Wessex a "partly real, partly dream-country", so some pins mark the area rather than one building.

篤姫：鹿児島から江戸城へ

NHKの2008年のドラマ「篤姫」は、薩摩の鹿児島と桜島から東京の江戸城まで、13代将軍の妻となった天璋院の足跡をたどる。島津家の分家である今和泉島津家に生まれた於一は、島津斉彬の養女となって鶴丸城に入り、ペリーの黒船が来航した1853年に将軍家へと旅立つ。このルートは、ドラマの前半の薩摩から大奥までの5つの場所をたどる。今和泉のピンと久里浜の地点は、おおよその位置である。

モーツァルト：ザルツブルク、ウィーン、プラハ

モーツァルトの生涯は、ザルツブルクのゲトライデガッセにある生家と洗礼を受けた大聖堂の洗礼盤から、ウィーンのフィガロハウスとシュテファン大聖堂を経て、1787年に「ドン・ジョヴァンニ」が初演されたプラハのエステート劇場へと続く。 6つの立ち寄り先は、1756年の誕生から、1791年にウィーンで行われた葬儀と埋葬までを追っており、そのほとんどは今も訪れることができる。

桜庭音操（ネク）は、記憶を失ったまま渋谷の雑踏で目を覚まし、死神のゲームに引き込まれる。1週間にわたるミッションの勝負で、死者が生き続けるか消えるかが決まるのだ。スクウェア・エニックスが2007年に発売したニンテンドーDSのカルト的名作は、この街をまるごと舞台にし、ランドマークはそのままに店の名前を変えた。このルートは、スクランブル交差点からハチ公、道玄坂のラーメン屋、キャットストリートのカフェ、隠れた渋谷川、そして宇田川を通って戻る道まで、ネクの足取りをたどる。ゲーム内の場所はほとんどが実在の場所の代役なので、2つの象徴的な場所を除き、地点は大まかなものだ。

「ホワイト・ロータス」の第2シーズンは舞台をシチリアの高級リゾートに移し、スタッフと裕福な客たちを追って、観光の日々、ヴィラでのパーティー、オペラの夜が続く1週間を描く。客たちはタオルミーナのギリシャ劇場を巡り、ダフネはハーパーを連れてバロックの町ノートへ向かい、タニヤは裕福なイギリス人と親しくなるが、パレルモにある彼のヴィラには恐ろしい罠が潜んでいる。このルートでは、サン・ドメニコ・パレス・ホテルから、最終回の島のビーチまで、実在の撮影地をエピソード順に訪ねる。番組では2つのヴィラが島の中で入れ替えられている。ノートの宮殿は、実際にはパレルモ郊外のヴィラ・タスカで、クエンティンのパレルモのヴィラは、ノート近くのヴィラ・エレーナである。
