Bluey: Brisbane and Its Queenslander Houses
Bluey is set in Brisbane, Queensland: the show draws on Queen Street Mall, South Bank and the city's Queenslander houses, with a trip to the Big Pelican on the Noosa River.
The route follows the series from Ludo Studio in Fortitude Valley to the real places it draws, ending at Bluey's World in Hamilton. The Heeler house is fictional, so it is not pinned.
Timeline & locations
What do the location labels mean?
- Exact
- The pin marks the actual place where it happened or was filmed.
- Approximate
- The right area — a town, park or district — but not a precise spot.
- Fictional
- The place exists only in the story; any pin marks a real-world stand-in or inspiration.
Bluey is animated in-house at Ludo Studio in Fortitude Valley, where about 50 people work on the show. Creator Joe Brumm brought the studio a one-minute pilot in 2016, and a five-minute sample was pitched at the Asian Animation Summit in Brisbane the same year. That pitch caught the eye of the ABC and the BBC, who went on to commission the series.

The Heelers live in semi-tropical Queensland, and their home is drawn after the Queenslanders of Brisbane: high-set suburban houses with characteristic verandas. A real Queenslander stands on stumps, with a veranda used as another living zone, and its corrugated steel roof can withstand torrential rain. The form is what sets Brisbane's suburbs apart from other Australian capitals.
Not pinned on the mapNot currently visitableLocation precision: The Heelers' house is invented and the sources name no suburb, so this stop is not pinned.

Queen Street Mall is one of the real Brisbane places the series has used as a backdrop. Art director Costa Kassab draws the show's locations from real Brisbane spots, including parks and shopping centres, and the mall is named among them. The pedestrian mall runs about 500 metres from George Street to Edward Street. It was designed by Robin Gibson and opened by Queen Elizabeth II in 1982.
Visitor guidance: Pedestrian-only, between George Street and Edward Street in central Brisbane.

South Bank is the other Brisbane location the series names. The parklands sit on the south bank of the Brisbane River, on the site of World Expo 88, and opened to the public on 20 June 1992. They include the riverfront promenade, Streets Beach, the Grand Arbour and the Wheel of Brisbane, with rainforest, water and open lawns.
Visitor guidance: On the river's south bank, directly opposite the city centre.

Not every landmark is in Brisbane. The series has also featured The Big Pelican on the Noosa River. Brumm determines the specific locations which are to be included, so the pelican is a deliberate nod to Queensland beyond the capital. The pin marks the Noosaville riverside, found by map search.

Bluey's World is the show's real-life attraction at Northshore Pavilion in Hamilton, Brisbane. It opened on 7 November 2024 and replicates settings from the series life-size on a 4,000 square-metre site, with an original story. It was projected to add AU$16 million to Brisbane's economy in 2025, and it is a fitting last stop for a route through the show's home city.
Location precision: The pin comes from a map search of Northshore in Hamilton and may be a few hundred metres off the attraction.
Visitor guidance: Check the official Bluey's World site for opening times and tickets before you go.
