Timeline & locations

What do the location labels mean?
Exact
The pin marks the actual place where it happened or was filmed.
Approximate
The right area — a town, park or district — but not a precise spot.
  1. The Vele di Scampia, the "Sails of Scampia", are the housing blocks most associated with Gomorrah: the series was shot there, and the buildings appear often on screen. The complex is a large housing project built between 1962 and 1975 in the Scampia neighbourhood and designed by Francesco Di Salvo. Demolition began on 20 February 2020, so what stands today is only part of what the cameras saw.

  2. Secondigliano is the home ground of the Savastano clan, headed by Pietro Savastano; the young Ciro is one of its members. In real Naples the district lies between San Pietro a Patierno and Scampia, and the production filmed in Scampia, Secondigliano, the Rione 219 of San Vitaliano and the Parco Verde of Caivano. The pin marks the district, not a single set.

Location precision: The series is set across the Secondigliano district and no single spot is named; the pin marks the neighbourhood.

  3. In season 1 Pietro Savastano ends up in prison, from where he tries to oppose his communications with the outside. The story places another character, an old friend of Pietro, in Naples' Poggioreale prison. Work on the real prison began in 1905. Our sources do not say where these scenes were filmed, so the pin marks the real prison as the story's setting, not a set.

Location precision: The prison is named in the story, but the scenes may not have been filmed inside it; the pin marks the real prison.

  4. In season 2 the Savastanos meet at the Villaggio Coppola, a seaside estate also known as Pinetamare and a frazione of Castel Volturno, in the province of Caserta. The estate was built with eight towers, sea-view villas and a shopping centre. The eight seafront tower blocks were brought down with explosives between 2001 and 2003, so the place looks very different from its original plan.

Location precision: The series names the Villaggio Coppola but not the exact building; the pin marks the village.

  5. In season 3 the Santo clan, whose leader is based in Forcella, enters the story, and another character is the capocamorra of Forcella and the Spanish Quarters. The neighbourhood takes its name from its Y-shaped fork of streets, and the sandstone ruins of the ancient Porta Furciliensis survive there. The pin marks the neighbourhood, not a street from the series.

Location precision: The series places clans in the Forcella district without naming a street; the pin marks the neighbourhood.

Death in Paradise: Guadeloupe as Saint Marie

Death in Paradise is set on the fictional island of Saint Marie but filmed in Guadeloupe, mainly in Deshaies, which stands in for the town of Honoré, with its police station, beach and bar. This route visits the filming locations around Deshaies: the harbour town, the old presbytery used as the police station, La Perle beach, Catherine's bar and the islet of Kahouanne. Some pins mark the area rather than the exact building.

Spiral (Engrenages): Paris Police Procedural

Spiral (Engrenages), the crime series that began in 2005, is set between the Palais de Justice, the police at 36 Quai des Orfèvres and the streets of north and east Paris, from La Villette to the Canal de l'Ourcq. The route follows the series across its eight seasons: the courthouse on the Île de la Cité, the judicial police, three of its cases and the new Batignolles courthouse of Series 8. Most stops are only the district named in the story, and the 13th arrondissement pin is approximate.

The Bridge (Bron/Broen): Øresund Crossing

The Bridge (Bron/Broen) is set on the Øresund Bridge between Malmö and Copenhagen, and many of its real locations are in Malmö, from the Turning Torso district to Peberholm island. This route follows the Nordic noir series from the corpse on the border line to the Malmö baths, Saga's flat, the police headquarters facade and the artificial island of season two. Interiors were studio sets, so the real places are mostly exteriors.
