What do the location labels mean?
Exact
The pin marks the actual place where it happened or was filmed.
Approximate
The right area — a town, park or district — but not a precise spot.
  1. Meister Eder's workshop was filmed in a rear building of Widenmayerstraße 2 in Munich's Lehel district, a former coachman's and caretaker's flat that was refurbished for the shoot. It was torn down in April 1985, after the live-action filming of Das Spiel mit dem Feuer, in which the kitchen burned. Today only the courtyard and part of the Versicherungskammer Bayern offices remain, and a plaque has marked the shoot since 24 April 2023. The street runs along the Isar.

Visitor guidance: Only the courtyard remains; look for the 2023 plaque from the street.

  2. When the series shows the street in front of Meister Eder's house, it is not Widenmayerstraße. Those street shots were filmed in front of Tattenbachstraße 16, also in the Lehel, because traffic there was lighter than on Widenmayerstraße. The doorway on screen is a stand-in, close to the real workshop courtyard.

Visitor guidance: A street in the Lehel; view it from the pavement.

  3. The exterior of the pub where Meister Eder meets his regulars at the Stammtisch was filmed outside the Gaststätte Zum Huterer on Grütznerstraße in Haidhausen. The sources name the pub and the street but no house number, so the pin marks Grütznerstraße in Haidhausen rather than the door.

Location precision: The source names the pub and Grütznerstraße but no house number, so the pin marks the street.

  4. In the episode Der rätselhafte Hund, Meister Eder meets the countess's butler on a footbridge. It is the Kabelsteg across the Kleine Isar in Munich. At the end of that scene the church of St. Lukas can be seen in the background, so you can match the view when you stand on the bridge.

Visitor guidance: A footbridge over the Kleine Isar; cross it on foot.

  5. The episode Pumuckl im Zoo was filmed at Tierpark Hellabrunn, Munich's zoo. It is the one stop on this route that is a visitor attraction rather than a street or a courtyard.

Visitor guidance: Check current opening hours and tickets before you go.
