What do the location labels mean?
Exact
The pin marks the actual place where it happened or was filmed.
Approximate
The right area — a town, park or district — but not a precise spot.
  1. The story starts in 1609, when the alien Do Min-joon lands on Earth during the Joseon period and is stranded for four centuries. According to the show, he made an emergency landing at the Korean Folk Village, where the director also shot the Joseon-era scenes, including his meeting with the noted doctor Heo Jun. The village is a living museum of relocated houses that recreate a late Joseon village.

  2. Centuries later Min-joon is a college professor, and this campus in Songdo, Incheon, is where he lectures. Visitors can see the classroom where Do gave his lessons, and the seat where Cheon Song-yi sat is now a favourite photo spot. According to the university, about 16 campus locations appeared in the drama.

  3. In one of the drama's most dramatic scenes, Min-joon saves Cheon Song-yi from a near-death experience at a rock formation in Incheon: he stops her car from plunging off a cliff. The scene was shot at a stone pit in Okryeon-dong, near Songdo International City. The site is deemed dangerous and is cordoned off.

Location precision: The sources name a stone pit in Okryeon-dong, Incheon, but no exact address, so this stop has no pin.

  4. Cheon looks out over Seoul's night view from the restaurant on top of the tower, longing for the boyfriend who has left her. On the terrace at the base, the couple promises to love each other forever and fastens a small padlock with their names engraved on it to the railing. The first love locks appeared at the tower in 2006, and the following year they were officially promoted as an attraction.

  5. When the crowds close in, Do Min-joon and Cheon Song-yi flee to Jangsado Island for a date. Reaching it means a ferry from the Tongyeong terminal, about 40 minutes through Hallyeo National Marine Park. On the island Cheon envies a tree that can live together forever, entwined with its lover.

Location precision: The island is named in the source, but the exact filming spots are not, so this stop has no pin.

Visitor guidance: Take the ferry from Tongyeong ferry terminal, about 40 minutes.

  6. The romance turns in this French-style theme village. Do confesses his feelings for Cheon and kisses her, saying, "This is the most selfish thing I can do to you." In the scene he flies her through the air to bring her to him. The park was built in July 2008, and after the drama aired its visitors rose from 300 to 2,000 a day.

Visitor guidance: Open as a theme park in Gapyeong, Gyeonggi Province; tourists pose where the scene was filmed.
