La zona correcta (una ciudad, un parque o un barrio), pero no un punto preciso.
  1. Rocco Schiavone, a police deputy chief, has been transferred from his beloved Rome to Aosta in the Italian Alps for disciplinary reasons, and short trips back to the capital do not ease his unease. His apartment on screen is filmed at the exterior of the 17th-century Palazzo Ansermin, a palace in the centre of Aosta whose exact construction date is uncertain. In the early 1800s the property passed to the Ansermin family, originally from Valpelline. Only the outside appears on camera, so treat it as a street-side landmark.

Para el visitante: Only the exterior appears in the series; view it from the street, as it is not a museum.

  2. Between cases, Schiavone can be found at a table in a historic café under the portico of the town hall in Piazza Chanoux. This is Aosta's main square, and its town hall was built between 1835 and 1841. The guide to the series does not name the café, so the pin marks the square rather than one table.

Precisión del lugar: The location guide mentions only a historic café under the town hall portico, so the pin marks the square.

Para el visitante: The square is open to all; cafés sit under the town hall portico.

  3. With his apartment, the Roman Theatre is one of the two places where Schiavone allows himself to face his conscience. The theatre dates from the late reign of Augustus, some decades after Aosta's foundation in 25 BC, and could hold 3,500 to 4,000 spectators. Today the southern facade still stands 22 metres tall.

  4. In one case, an apparent suicide leads Schiavone to the cloister of the Collegiate Church of Sant'Orso in Aosta, where he has an enlightening encounter with the murderer right under God's nose. The Romanesque cloister keeps 37 of its original 52 white marble capitals.

  5. In a kidnapping investigation, Schiavone takes the cable car from Aosta straight up to Pila, a ski resort in the municipality of Gressan, where his Roman friends are on holiday. Pila is linked to Aosta by road and by a cable car system, and the Aosta Valley is one of the series' main shooting areas.

Precisión del lugar: The pin marks the Pila resort; the guide does not give the exact filming spot on the lift.

Para el visitante: Pila is reachable from Aosta by road and cable car.

  6. The murder of a man sends Schiavone along the black path in Champoluc, in the Ayas Valley. Champoluc is a village in the commune of Ayas, known for hiking, mountaineering and skiing, particularly around the Monte Rosa Massif. The location guide ties the scene to the village but not to one slope, so the pin marks Champoluc itself.

Precisión del lugar: The guide names Champoluc and the black path, not the exact slope; the pin marks the village.

Para el visitante: Champoluc is a ski and hiking village in the Ayas Valley.

Don Matteo: Gubbio and Spoleto Filming Locations

Don Matteo is set and filmed in Gubbio, then Spoleto, with side trips to Foligno. The series began airing on 7 January 2000, and this route visits the church, palaces and fortress seen on screen. Stops follow the seasons: three squares and a church in Gubbio, a hospital in Foligno, then Sant'Eufemia and the Rocca Albornoziana in Spoleto. Many interiors are studio sets, so the pins mark the exteriors.
