Little Women: Concord, Orchard House and Beyond

Little Women is set in a Massachusetts town loosely based on Concord, and Louisa May Alcott wrote it at Orchard House, the Alcott family home that is now a museum. Follow the March sisters from Concord to Washington, Nice and Lake Geneva. The route visits Orchard House and The Wayside, where the Alcott family lived and acted out scenes later used in the book, then follows the story abroad: a Washington hospital, the Promenade des Anglais in Nice and Chillon on Lake Geneva. The Concord stops are the real houses behind the March family's home.

Big Little Lies: Monterey and Big Sur Filming Locations

Big Little Lies is set in Monterey, California, and filmed around Monterey, Pacific Grove and Big Sur. Real places include Old Fisherman's Wharf, Monterey Bay Aquarium, Lovers Point and Bixby Bridge. The series follows five women drawn into a homicide investigation. This route moves from the wharf and beaches of Monterey to the cliffs and bridge of the Big Sur coast; some cafes you see on screen were sets, so those stops are marked as approximate.

Pretty Woman: Beverly Hills and Hollywood Locations

Pretty Woman is set in Los Angeles, mostly around Hollywood Boulevard, the Beverly Wilshire Hotel and Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills, with one night at the San Francisco Opera. This route follows Vivian and Edward's week in story order, from the Hollywood street where they meet to the opera house. Some scenes were filmed elsewhere, such as the Ambassador Hotel lobby and the Cicada dinner, and the stops say so.

NHKの2008年のドラマ「篤姫」は、薩摩の鹿児島と桜島から東京の江戸城まで、13代将軍の妻となった天璋院の足跡をたどる。島津家の分家である今和泉島津家に生まれた於一は、島津斉彬の養女となって鶴丸城に入り、ペリーの黒船が来航した1853年に将軍家へと旅立つ。このルートは、ドラマの前半の薩摩から大奥までの5つの場所をたどる。今和泉のピンと久里浜の地点は、おおよその位置である。

イーダ・プファイファーの1846～1848年の世界一周は、ハンブルク、ブラジルの森、タヒチ、バグダードを巡り、著書『ある女性の世界一周旅行』に記された。48歳の未亡人はほぼ一人で旅した。ルートは、彼女自身の著書『ある女性の世界一周旅行』に沿って、最初の世界旅行を順にたどる。ハンブルク、ブラジルの森、ホーン岬とバルパライソ、タヒチ、広州、バグダード、ペルシア、そして帰国である。イラクとイランについては、訪問者向けの案内はない。

「オン・ザ・ロード」：ケルアックのアメリカ横断

1947年から1950年にかけて、ニュージャージー出身の若い作家サル・パラダイスは、ヒッチハイクやバス、借り物の車でアメリカを何度も横断する。たいていは、奔放で人を惹きつける友人ディーン・モリアーティを追いかけての旅だ。ジャック・ケルアックは1951年4月、3週間かけて、この物語を継ぎ目のない巻紙にタイプで打ち続けた。出版は1957年である。サルはケルアック、ディーンはニール・キャサディで、旅の大半は実際にあったことだ。このルートでは、小説に名前の出てくる場所を拾っていく。ハドソン川の雨の中での出だしの失敗から、メキシコシティ、そしてニューヨークの街角に戻るまでだ。小説に出てくるのは番地ではなく町や通りの名なので、ほとんどのピンは建物ではなく一帯を指している。
