The Hunger Games: North Carolina to Atlanta
The Hunger Games was filmed almost entirely in North Carolina: District 12 is the abandoned Henry River Mill Village, the arena is DuPont State Forest with Triple Falls, and the Capitol parade rolls through Charlotte. The sequels moved to Atlanta, where Swan House, the Goat Farm Arts Center and the Marriott Marquis stand in for Snow's mansion, the District 12 Justice Building and the Capitol tribute center.
This route follows the story from the reaping to the Hanging Tree, with eight real places and what each one plays in the films. Some sites, such as Henry River Mill Village, are private, so check the guidance before you go.

Katniss's District 12 is a real abandoned mill town. The film crew used Henry River Mill Village for her neighbourhood, and the story starts here: Katniss lives with her younger sister Primrose and their mother until Primrose is picked for the 74th Hunger Games and Katniss volunteers to take her place. The village was laid out in 1904 around a cotton mill, had about 35 small workers' cottages, and the mill closed in 1971. Today it is a ghost town beside the Henry River near Hildebran, on private land, so look only from the outside.

After the reaping, the tributes are escorted to the Capitol, and the chariot parade is where Katniss makes a terrific impression and earns a nickname. That scene was filmed at the Charlotte Convention Center. Many of the film's urban and interior Capitol locations were shot in Shelby and Charlotte, and the filmmakers drew on the buildings of the 1939 New York World's Fair when designing the Capitol's look. The convention center itself opened in 1995.

The pre-Games interviews, hosted by television presenter Caesar Flickerman, were filmed at the Knight Theater, part of Charlotte's Blumenthal Performing Arts Center. In the story this is where Peeta confesses on live television that he loves Katniss, which she initially sees as an attempt to attract sponsors. She learns only later that his feelings are genuine. The theatre stands at 430 South Tryon Street, in the middle of Charlotte.

In the arena, Katniss discovers the camouflaged and wounded Peeta at the base of Triple Falls on the Little River, then hides him in a cave. DuPont State Forest supplied most of the film's outdoor arena scenes, and for the shot of running across the falls Jennifer Lawrence was attached to wires and ran on a board. The forest also appears in The Last of the Mohicans (1992). Today the falls are reached on the Triple Falls / High Falls Trail, roughly half a mile from the Hooker Falls parking area.
訪問のヒント: Park at the Hooker Falls parking area and hike the Triple Falls / High Falls Trail, roughly 0.5 miles.

Snow tells Katniss and Peeta to feign love on the Victory Tour, and they are whisked away to a lavish victory party at his estate. Swan House, built in 1928 for Edward and Emily Inman, plays the part: filmmakers chose it as an equivalent to the White House because they wanted a house that looked like it had been there forever. The Morning Room was dressed as Snow's office. Now part of the Atlanta History Center, it has been open for tours since 1967.

The 75th Hunger Games, the third Quarter Quell, is announced with a twist: tributes will be chosen from the existing pool of victors. The Goat Farm Arts Center stands in for District 12's Justice Building, where Katniss and Peeta once again find themselves drafted. At the Reaping, Haymitch's name is drawn, but Peeta volunteers for him. The site began as a machine works that opened in 1889, and filming took place there in 2012.

Some scenes of the Capitol's tribute center were filmed in this Atlanta hotel, a 47-storey tower with a towering atrium overlooked by constantly moving glass elevators. The atrium was the largest in the world when it opened in 1985, at 469 feet (143 m) high. It returns in Mockingjay Part 1, where a rescue team rappels into the darkened Tribute Centre: the stunt team really did descend 52 storeys through the vast lobby; shooting took place at the hotel on 14 December 2013.

In Mockingjay Part 1, Katniss and her team travel to District 12 to film her singing The Hanging Tree, and Jennifer Lawrence performed the film's version of the song. The scene was shot at the water-filled Bellwood Quarry, northwest of Atlanta. The granite quarry closed in 2007; it was closed during park construction and opened to the public on 20 August 2021 as Westside Park, renamed Shirley Clarke Franklin Park in 2025.
