What do the location labels mean?
Approximate
The right area — a town, park or district — but not a precise spot.
  1. Hollywood turns the payload into a limo. Attackers escort the famous omnic filmmaker Hal-Fred Glitchbot across the fictional Goldshire Studios movie lot in Los Angeles, California, on a map from the May 2016 launch. Blizzard says a multicultural team built it from their own idea of Hollywood, with no reference material. The studio is invented, so the pin marks Hollywood Boulevard as the model.

Location precision: Goldshire Studios is a fictional lot; the pin marks Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles.

  2. Dorado is a payload map set in Mexico, played during the Festival de la Luz, a holiday that marks the end of the Omnic Crisis. Jeff Kaplan said the team searched for pictures of colorful Mexican towns and only later realized that the photograph they chose showed Manarola, Italy. So the real model for this Mexican town is a village on the Italian Riviera; the stop has no pin, as the town itself is invented.

Location precision: Dorado is an invented Mexican town whose look came from a photo of Manarola, Italy, so this stop has no pin.

  3. Havana arrived with the Overwatch Archives event in April 2019, when players visit beautiful Havana, Cuba, where Overwatch agents are hot on the trail of Talon associate Maximilien. In the story Tracer, Genji, Winston and Mercy pursue the omnic financier through the city's streets, with captain Sojourn keeping watch, and catch him at the end of a lengthy and intense chase. The pin marks the centre of Havana.

Location precision: The map is a stylised Havana; the pin marks the city centre.

  4. New Queen Street is a Push map set in post-reconstruction Toronto, added in the Overwatch 2 beta on 29 April 2022. Teams fight over a robot ally as snowflakes and maple leaves fall in a picturesque cultural hub where omnics and humans live together in harmony. The artists wanted Toronto to feel cool with the snow yet warm and welcoming, reflecting its multicultural history.

Location precision: The street is invented; the pin marks central Toronto.

  5. Runasapi is a Push map that arrived with Season 11 on 20 June 2024: a town hidden high in the Peruvian Andes. Players amble through marketplaces full of fresh produce, pay a visit to the Inti Warrior Historical Museum and Monument, and escort TS-1 through tight streets, with some fights close to the steep cliffs overlooking sunny farmlands. Blizzard calls it vibrant and challenging.

Not pinned on the mapVisitability not confirmed

Location precision: Blizzard names only the Peruvian Andes, no town, so this stop has no pin.

  6. Midtown is a Hybrid map added in the Overwatch 2 beta on 29 April 2022. In the story it is the site of some of the fiercest fighting in the Omnic Crisis. Attackers drive their enemies back through the shadows of skyscrapers, then escort the payload through the heart of Manhattan to its destination in historic Grand Central. The artists drew on art-deco style. The pin marks Grand Central Terminal.

Location precision: The map only ends at Grand Central; the street layout is not a copy, so the pin marks the terminal.

Visitor guidance: Grand Central Terminal is at 42nd Street and Park Avenue in Midtown Manhattan.

  7. Paraíso is a Hybrid map set in the heart of Rio, introduced in the Overwatch 2 beta on 28 June 2022. Attackers take a bumping carnival float through the city streets, from the sunny beach to Lúcio's own Clube Sinestesia. Lúcio's story starts in the same city: Lúcio Correia dos Santos grew up in Rio de Janeiro, in a poor and crowded favela. The map's district is invented; the pin marks Rio.

Location precision: The map shows an invented Rio district; the pin marks the city.

War Thunder: Real Places Behind the Ground Maps

War Thunder's tank maps are based on real places: Stalingrad Tractor Plant, Bastogne, Hürtgen Forest, Cologne Cathedral, Berlin's Reichstag, Novorossiysk, Volokolamsk, Breslau (Wrocław), Darwin Hill in the Falklands and the Fulda Gap. The developers say how close each map is to its original, from rebuilt photographs of the Stalingrad factory to a layout only inspired by the real ground. This route follows ten of them in the order of their history, with a short note on what happened at each real place. Maps are classed here as exact only where the developers copy a real district; the rest are marked approximate.
