The Bridge (Bron/Broen): Øresund Crossing
The Bridge (Bron/Broen) is set on the Øresund Bridge between Malmö and Copenhagen, and many of its real locations are in Malmö, from the Turning Torso district to Peberholm island.
This route follows the Nordic noir series from the corpse on the border line to the Malmö baths, Saga's flat, the police headquarters facade and the artificial island of season two. Interiors were studio sets, so the real places are mostly exteriors.
Contains major story spoilers.
Timeline & locations
What do the location labels mean?
- Exact
- The pin marks the actual place where it happened or was filmed.
The series opens here. A body, apparently cut in half at the waist, is found in the middle of the Øresund Bridge, exactly on the border between Denmark and Sweden. It turns out to be two women: the upper half of a Swedish politician and the lower half of a Danish woman, so the case belongs to both countries. The bridge opened in 2000 and carries both road and rail, so you can cross it by car or train between Malmö and Copenhagen.
Visitor guidance: Open to trains and cars; check ticket and border rules before you travel.

Saga's flat stands in Malmö's Western Harbour, right below the towering Turning Torso, across the man-made canal. The exterior shots were taken at Ankargatan 9; only the outside is the real flat. The Turning Torso above it is a skyscraper built in nine segments of five-storey pentagons that twist as it rises.

The exterior of the Malmö police headquarters in the series is a building at Barkgatan 11 in the Möllevången area. In real life it houses a yoga studio, a community centre and an agency for the unemployed. The interiors of both the Malmö and Copenhagen police stations were shot in studios in Ystad. Only the facade is the real thing.

A few scenes of season two were shot on the artificial island of Peberholm (Pepparholmen in Swedish), including a nerve-wracking car chase. The island was built as the crossover point between the bridge and the tunnel, in the Danish part of the Øresund strait. It is not accessible to the public, so it can only be seen from a distance.
