What do the location labels mean?
Exact
The pin marks the actual place where it happened or was filmed.
  1. Jimmy Smith Jr. has just broken up with his girlfriend Janeane, and this is where he lands: his mother Stephanie's trailer, shared with his younger sister Lily and Stephanie's boyfriend Greg. The film calls it 8 Mile Mobile Court; the real place is the A&L Mobile Home Park at 20785 Schultes Avenue, on the north side of East 8 Mile Road in Warren. The trailer is the place Rabbit is trying to leave.

  2. Rabbit catches the bus at 8 Mile Road and Schultes Avenue and scribbles lyrics as it runs along the road; the shots were actually taken along Chene Street. The road gives the film its title and its theme: the old line between the poorer, mostly black city and the wealthier, mostly white suburbs to the north, where Eminem grew up. The corner sits right beside the trailer park, so the two stops are a single glance apart.

  3. Rabbit spends his days here making crash parts at the New Center Stamping Plant, 950 East Milwaukee Street at Hastings Street. He asks his supervisor Manny for extra shifts and is turned down for being habitually late. Later, after he defends the co-worker Paul with a freestyle at lunch, Manny notices the change and offers him a late-night shift. The plant is where the film's two sides meet: the job that pays the rent and the voice that might get him out.

  4. With the promise of a career break from the fixer Wink, Rabbit turns up at the WJLB radio station, housed in the landmark 1928 art deco Penobscot Building at 645 Griswold Street. What he finds there does not further his ambitions one bit. The 45-storey tower was the tallest in Detroit and Michigan from its completion until 1977, and it still anchors the city's financial district.

  5. Three One Third face off against the rival rappers The Free World in this parking garage, and in the film the crew rap here before entering the Chin Tiki. The garage is inside the Michigan Building at 220 Bagley Street at Grand River Avenue, the old Michigan Theatre. The 4,050-seat house opened in 1926, closed in 1976 and was gutted to make parking for the offices above; the ornate plaster ceiling of the auditorium survives at the ninth-floor level.

  6. Rabbit and his Three One Third crew hang out and come on to the ladies at the old Chin Tiki club, which stood at 2121 Cass Street. The tiki-themed supper club, nightclub and banquet hall opened in 1966, closed in 1980 and sat untouched for two decades before it was demolished in 2009. Its first-floor restaurant had a large black light aquarium mural. The site is now an empty lot beside the Michigan Building's garage, so there is nothing left but the address.

  7. Rabbit angrily confronts The Free World northwest of downtown, and in the ruckus Cheddar Bob somehow shoots himself. The fight was filmed on the empty lot on the northwest corner of Grand River Avenue and Quincy Street, in the Petosky-Otsego neighbourhood. The spot is an empty corner in a run-down stretch of the city, with no set dressing left to find.

  8. The Shelter is the film's fixed point. Rabbit chokes at a battle here, and at the end he beats Free World's Lyckety-Splyt and Lotto before facing Papa Doc, whose thug persona he dismantles by revealing his real name, Clarence. Papa Doc hands the microphone back without a word. The real Shelter is in the basement of St Andrew's Hall at 431 East Congress Street, and Eminem started out here; the film rebuilt its interior in a warehouse at 240 Chene Street.

  9. The film ends on this block. The Shelter's exterior was dressed at 30 Clifford Street, a few blocks northwest of the real venue, and directly opposite that door Rabbit turns down Future's offer to co-host the battles at the Shelter. He walks off down the alley alongside Griswold Street to do his own thing. It is an ordinary downtown corner, a few minutes from the real club.

Mr. Bean: London and the Sitcom's England

The 1990s sitcom Mr. Bean was filmed across London, Sussex and the south coast: the Surbiton street used for his flat, Stanmer Church, Peacehaven beach, Battersea Park and Clarence Pier. On screen he lives at Flat 2, 12 Arbour Road, Highbury; the front door was filmed in Surbiton. This route follows the episodes from the 1990 pilot to the 1995 golf sketch: eight stops through a Henry Moore sculpture, a Kingston market, a Southsea hotel room and a runaway golf ball. Most are public places; the Surbiton house is a private home, so it is one to see from the street.

Real Boys: Kolyan's Perm

Real Boys (Реальные пацаны) is set and filmed in Perm, from the «Счастье не за горами» sign on the Kama embankment to Kolyan's flat in the House of the Loader. The mockumentary ran from 2010 to 2023 and followed a Perm lad and his friends for ten seasons, with the city playing itself. This route visits the filming sites: the phone shop where Kolyan meets Lera, the garage on Malaya Yamskaya, the police set in the Palace of Youth, the university globe, Gorky Park, the wedding restaurant and the cafe the lads try to run. Some of them are now shops or offices.

Chainsaw Man: From Nerima to Reze's Kanda

Chainsaw Man is a late-1990s Tokyo where devils are real, and the anime's model streets run from Nerima Station to the phone booth and stairs of Kanda in the Reze Arc film. Denji, a teenage Devil Hunter, joins the government's Public Safety Division under Makima, and the 12-episode first season (2022) sends him and Power through Nerima. The 2025 film moves the story to Kanda: Denji meets Reze, a Bomb Devil hybrid, beside a Jinbocho phone booth, and she works at a café in Sarugakuchō. This route follows the documented model spots in story order, from Nerima Station and a footbridge in the season finale to the phone booth, the Aoi Building, the Onnazaka stairs and the café fans call Futamichi. Most are working streets and businesses; visit quietly.
