Battle Royale: Filming Locations in Japan

The class falls asleep on a school bus, gassed, and wakes on a remote island: the start of the game. The film's island scenes were shot on Hachijō-kojima, a small island about 287 kilometres south of Tokyo. It has been uninhabited since 1969, which suits a story that needs an empty battlefield.
