What do the location labels mean?
Exact
The pin marks the actual place where it happened or was filmed.
Approximate
The right area — a town, park or district — but not a precise spot.
  1. Octavio is in love with Susana, the wife of his abusive brother Ramiro. A location guide places the family house on Leiria street in San Andrés Tetepilco, where Octavio lived with his mother, Ramiro and Susana. It is a private home, so the pin marks only the street area.

Location precision: A guide names a house on Leiria street, but it is a private home, so the pin only marks the street area in San Andrés Tetepilco.

  2. Realising Cofi's potential, Octavio and his friend Jorge join the dogfighting scene. A location guide says the fights were staged in a house tucked between the German cemetery and Avenida México-Tacuba, with a small improvised ring. The cemetery gives the area, but the house itself is private, so this is a neighbourhood marker only.

Location precision: The guide describes a private house near the Panteón Alemán; the pin marks the cemetery, not the house.

  3. El Chivo is a professional hitman, and he is about to carry out a hit on a businessman when Octavio's crash interrupts him. A location guide identifies the spot as the Mikado restaurant at Paseo de la Reforma 369, where he travels from Ecatepec to kill the industrialist Otto Lievermann. It is a working restaurant on a major avenue, so you can see the corner from outside or sit down for a meal.

Visitor guidance: Mikado is at Paseo de la Reforma 369.

  4. Octavio runs the red light at Juan Escutia and ploughs sideways into Valeria's car. Valeria's leg is severely broken, and the collision links the stories of Octavio, Valeria and El Chivo. SensaCine reports that the shot needed nine cameras and a remote-controlled car. The junction in Colonia Condesa can be visited, and a taco stall stands on the corner today.

Location precision: Sources name the junction of Juan Escutia and Atlixco; the pin sits on Calle Atlixco near that corner.

Visitor guidance: Public street corner in Colonia Condesa.

  5. Octavio waits at the bus station for Susana. A location guide places him at column 24 with a shaved head and scars from the crash. She never shows up, and he does not board the bus. The scene was shot at the Taxqueña terminal, officially the Terminal Central de Autobuses del Sur, one of four bus terminals in Mexico City. It is a working station, so you can walk in and find the platforms.

Visitor guidance: Working bus terminal in Taxqueña, in the south of Mexico City.
