Bumer: The Road from Moscow into the Provinces
The 2003 road movie Bumer opens in Moscow, in Pechatnikov Lane and on the Savvinskaya and Berezhkovskaya embankments, and runs out of town to Raduzhny and Kolomna, where its provincial scenes were shot.
Four car thieves flee Moscow in a stolen BMW and the film follows them from the capital's embankments down to a small town. The pins are approximate: they follow reported filming spots, not exact frames.

What do the location labels mean?
- Approximate
- The right area — a town, park or district — but not a precise spot.
The film begins in Moscow with a theft. Four members of an underground car-theft ring steal a 1995 BMW 750i from an important member of the secret police, and the black BMW rolls out of a cramped courtyard in Pechatnikov Lane. The narrow passages between old houses give the scene its feel of Moscow's back streets. The story is set in November 1999, and this lane is where the car first appears on the road.

On the Savvinskaya Embankment the trouble begins. The plot hinges on a road-rage incident: Dimon is assaulted and his Mercedes is impounded, and the thieves steal the BMW as revenge. The location guide calls this a key moment of the film.

The Berezhkovskaya Embankment is the bleak backdrop for losing the Mercedes. The giant chimneys of the power plant give the scene an industrial, hopeless feel. After this the crew must run away from Moscow, and the film turns from the capital to the road.

On the road out of the capital things go wrong at every step: the crew fights rival gangsters and corrupt police, and the car runs out of gas. At the entrance to Raduzhny, near Kolomna, the heroes swap a car stereo for petrol. A little further on is the railway tunnel where locals try to take the foreign car from them.

Exterior shooting took place in Kolomna and its district. The small Old Castle cafe becomes the film's cafe with the odd name "Eagle, Bull and Lion", and Kolomna's old centre stands for the provinces. Kot walks here before the planned robbery of a computer store in a small town. The raid goes horribly wrong off-camera, and the film ends on an abandoned BMW.
