Watch Dogs: Legion: Hacking Near-Future London
Watch Dogs: Legion is set in a fictionalised near-future London, and its story runs through the Palace of Westminster, New Scotland Yard, The Shard (renamed the Nexus Tower), Nine Elms and the Tower of London. The hacker group DedSec fights a surveillance state built by the private military company Albion.
This route follows the story from the bomb plot at Parliament to the showdown at the Tower. The game remakes London, so pins mark real landmarks and districts, not in-game buildings.
Contains major story spoilers.
Timeline & locations
What do the location labels mean?
- Exact
- The pin marks the actual place where it happened or was filmed.
- Approximate
- The right area — a town, park or district — but not a precise spot.
The game opens at the Houses of Parliament. DedSec detects armed intruders planting explosives there, and operative Dalton Wolfe goes in to defuse them. Dalton manages to prevent Parliament's destruction, but he is gunned down by drones commanded by the leader of Zero Day, a rogue hacker group, who detonates more explosives around London and frames DedSec for the bombings. The real building is the meeting place of the Parliament of the United Kingdom.

After the bombings, the British government contracts the private military company Albion to restore order to London and hunt down DedSec. In the game, a fictional version of New Scotland Yard is shown as an Albion-controlled site. The real Scotland Yard is the headquarters of the Metropolitan Police, which moved from Great Scotland Yard in 1890 to a newly completed building on the Victoria Embankment.

Legion is set in a fictionalised near-future London, suggested to be 2029 or 2030. The Shard appears in the game, although there it is called the Nexus Tower. The real skyscraper, designed by the Italian architect Renzo Piano and inaugurated on 5 July 2012, stands in Southwark. At 309.6 metres high it is the tallest building in the United Kingdom and Western Europe.
Visitor guidance: The View from The Shard, a privately operated observation deck, is open to the public.

The game represents eight of London's boroughs, and Wandsworth is played through the Nine Elms area. Here, as in the other boroughs, DedSec's recruits liberate the district by encouraging citizens to rise up in defiance of their oppressors. The real Nine Elms is dominated by New Covent Garden Market and Battersea Power Station.

Near the end, DedSec expose the crimes of Albion's CEO Nigel Cass, including his aid and planning in the Zero Day bombings. He takes refuge at Albion's headquarters in the Tower of London, and DedSec storm the Tower and kill him. The real castle was founded toward the end of 1066 as part of the Norman Conquest and is the home of the Crown Jewels of England.
Visitor guidance: The Tower is a historic castle open to visitors; the Crown Jewels are kept here.
