What do the location labels mean?
Exact
The pin marks the actual place where it happened or was filmed.
Approximate
The right area — a town, park or district — but not a precise spot.
  1. The story starts in Bel-Air. After their plane is shot down, the six Slayers make their way to the home of crash survivor and actress Emma Jaunt, who reluctantly shelters them despite their infection. A later Bel-Air side quest is given by Luciana, found in Emma's house. In real life Bel Air is a residential neighborhood in Los Angeles, founded in 1923 by Alphonzo Bell.

Location precision: Emma's mansion is invented; the pin marks the Bel Air neighborhood.

  2. From Bel-Air the story takes the Slayers to nearby Beverly Hills. The mansions here hold the game's first Lost and Found mission, The Clean and Snatch, which sends players to scavenge around the pools of the Beverly Hills plots of land. The real Beverly Hills is a separate city, well known for its Rodeo Drive shopping district and its many designer brands.

Location precision: The game's villas are invented; the pin marks the city of Beverly Hills.

Visitor guidance: Rodeo Drive is the public shopping street; the private estates are not open.

  3. The map continues west to Venice Beach, where players meet Burt, a side character tied to two quests. Real Venice is known for its canals, a beach and Ocean Front Walk. Visitors also find the Venice Beach Boardwalk, Muscle Beach and the Venice Beach Recreation Center.

Location precision: The game recreates the Venice Beach area; the pin marks the Venice neighborhood.

Visitor guidance: Ocean Front Walk is a public promenade along the beach.

  4. Reed's safe haven is in Santa Monica, and the pier is the zone's showpiece. A side quest asks you to kick 14 zombies off the pier and into the water, and the quest-giver waits near a broken octopus ride by the edge. The real pier holds Pacific Park, a family amusement park with a solar-panelled Ferris wheel.

Visitor guidance: The pier is public; Pacific Park rides sit at its entrance end.

  5. The Slayers reach Hollywood Boulevard, where Sam starts succumbing to the Autophage and his immunity deteriorates. Here they confront Reed, who admits he released the Autophage in the city to filter out Numen. The real boulevard runs through central Hollywood, home to the Hollywood Walk of Fame, created in 1958, and the Ovation Hollywood shopping and entertainment complex.

Location precision: The game recreates the boulevard as a zone, not one building; the pin marks a point on Hollywood Boulevard.

Visitor guidance: The Walk of Fame stars line the public sidewalks.

  6. The Haus story expansion introduced a large villa in Malibu, California, and the Slayers get a mysterious invitation to a seaside mansion called the Haus, the base of a doomsday cult. Inside, they learn that its leader Konstantin is actually an artificial intelligence dedicated to preserving humanity.
