Mission: Impossible – Fallout: Paris, London and "Kashmir"
Mission: Impossible – Fallout was filmed across Paris, London, New Zealand and Norway, from the Grand Palais and St Paul's Cathedral to the cliff of Preikestolen. Ethan Hunt chases stolen plutonium cores through real streets, rooftops and a fjord-side dream.
The route follows the film's order: the Paris gala and convoy chase, the London rooftop run, then the "Kashmir" finale, shot near Queenstown and on Norway's Pulpit Rock. The HALO jump was filmed in Abu Dhabi, so it has no stop.

Timeline & locations
What do the location labels mean?
- Exact
- The pin marks the actual place where it happened or was filmed.
- Approximate
- The right area — a town, park or district — but not a precise spot.
Fallout opens with a dream: Ethan Hunt marrying his ex-wife Julia in a natural setting of mountains and fjords, before he wakes up to receive his next mission. The wedding was filmed at Milford Sound in New Zealand. On the day the usually mild weather turned cloudy and cold. Milford Sound lies in Fiordland National Park, and Rudyard Kipling called it the eighth Wonder of the World.
Location precision: The film names no spot inside the sound; the pin marks Milford Sound itself.
Visitor guidance: Most commonly reached by road on State Highway 94; check conditions before travelling.

Hunt and Walker parachute onto the glass roof of the Grand Palais, where the White Widow is hosting a gala and Hunt is to pose as Lark to get hold of the plutonium. The jump itself was filmed in Abu Dhabi, not Paris, but the building is real: principal photography began in Paris in April 2017. The Grand Palais stands in the 8th arrondissement; construction began in 1897.
Visitor guidance: Hosts regular exhibitions and events; check what is on before you go.

The helicopter carrying the imprisoned Lane lands on the helipad of the Colbert building of the Ministry of Finance, where he is moved to the armed police convoy Hunt means to attack. The helicopter weighed 14 tonnes but the pad was rated for four, so the pilot hovered just above it. The convoy then crosses the Seine by the double-decker Pont de Bercy; 300 feet of silk hid the river shoot from onlookers.

The sniper who has been stalking Hunt turns out to be Ilsa. Later she follows him along the colonnade into the Jardin du Palais-Royal, and in an avenue of trees he confronts her. She tells him MI6 ordered her to kill Lane. The garden was laid out in 1635-1636 in the 1st arrondissement and has held France's "remarkable garden" label since 2005.
Visitor guidance: A public garden in the centre of the Palais-Royal.

In London, Hunt crashes a sombre military funeral inside the cathedral, races up the spiral staircase and into the Whispering Gallery, then climbs out onto the roof. The gallery is a circular walkway round the base of the dome; a whisper against its wall is heard all the way round, and it is reached by 259 steps. In real life no building is close enough to leap to from the cathedral, so the rooftop chase is simplified.
Visitor guidance: Opening times and Whispering Gallery access are worth checking before you go.

The rooftop chase ends at Blackfriars Station: Hunt runs into an office facing the station roof, then races along it while Walker calmly walks the platform below. The railway bridge has been converted into a glassed-in station whose platforms span the Thames, the only station in London to do so. Hunt then sprints under the southern end of Blackfriars Bridge along the riverfront walk towards Tate Modern.
Visitor guidance: A working railway station; the riverside walk to Tate Modern starts at the south end of Blackfriars Bridge.

Walker is chased to the top of the old power station chimney, where a helicopter whisks him and Lane away. The Apostles now have two bombs, which need to be defused simultaneously. Tate Modern fills the former Bankside Power Station in Southwark, whose central chimney stood 99 metres (325 ft) tall. London filming began in early July 2017, at locations including Blackfriars Bridge and Tate Modern.

The team tracks Lane and Walker to a medical camp near the Siachen Glacier in Kashmir, where Ethan finds Julia and her new husband leading the medical team. The Kashmir sequences were filmed near Queenstown, after the production could not secure permission to film in India. The camp was built at Muddy Creek Field on Rees Valley Road, near Mount Earnslaw, and the helicopters fly over Centaur Peaks. Each filming day had only five hours of daylight.

After the helicopters crash, Hunt and Walker fight to the death on a flat-topped cliff. It was filmed on Pulpit Rock in Norway in November, northeast of Forsand and east of Stavanger. Walker's helicopter, hanging from the rock face, was added digitally because a practical model risked damaging the rock, and safety wires and cranes were removed from the actors. Preikestolen rises 604 metres above Lysefjorden and drew 300,000 visitors in 2024.
Visitor guidance: One of Norway's most-visited natural attractions; take care near the cliff edge.
